In the early 2000s, McKinnon relocated to Australia, where he continues an eccentric composition style akin to Mr. Bungle, under the name Umlaut. Umlaut just shared a new track today, "Every Time," posted below, which takes lounge and easy listening influence and gives it dynamic '70s rock notes and a few surprise shifts along the journey.
Danny Heifetz, also of Mr. Bungle/Secret Chiefs 3, contributes to the song, for the pair's first collaboration since working on California. Umlaut also features bassist Shane Lieber (An Easier Question), Angus Leslie (Sex on Toast), and Heifetz.
