Toronto's Pkew Pkew Pkew just announced Optimal Lifestyles, a new album that will release on March 1 on Dine Alone Records.

For the new record, the group worked with Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), who provided writer workshopping on the lyrics, which aims to respond to the band's 2016 debut in a more mature manner.

“It’s fun to live like an idiot, but it’s probably bad, also. We’re all constantly wondering if we’ve ruined our lives forever or not, being in a band," vocalist/guitarist Mike Warne says of the new record's tone. “You know in school when you can hand your work in early, and the teacher will read it and give it back to you, and then you can really hand it in? Yeah, it was kind of like that," he says of working with Finn.

Fans can get a preview of the record in the video for "Passed Out" at Uproxx, in addition to an interview.

At its best, it’s a pop-punk version of The Hold Steady – and that’s not in that oversimplified “recommended if you … Read more
