Onetime Pavement frontperson Stephen Malkmus returns to action with the album Traditional Techniques, on March 6 on Matador Records. The album is his third recod without Pavement or his follow-up backing band, the Jicks. It's described as a new path from 2018's Jicks release, Sparkle Hard and 2019's solo Groove Denied.

Inspiration began while recording Sparkle Hard and progressed to include new instrumentation, modern folk, and Malkmus' unique voice.

The record's release will be followed by a North American tour. Watch a video for "Xian Man" below.
