With a penchant for coming up with amusing track titles as well as pumping out catchy and crunchy noise punk, Norwegian duo Barren Womb have been unleashing their own sonic recreation of the apocalypse for most of the past decade. A few years removed from their previous full length, 2018’s Old Money / New Lowsthe band now has another rip-roaring release lined up with Lizard Lounge.

“Hairy Palms” is a fine representation of this album and band, recalling for me the best elements of vintage Death From Above 1979.  About the track, drummer and vocalist Timo Silvola says:

“Lately I've been obsessed with sects, cults and everything in between. This world is full of groups of people with dumb ass theories, but this one takes the cake as we say in Norwegian. I first got introduced to incels through Thomas Seltzer’s documentary on NRK. A deep dive on YouTube later and voila: new lyrics.  We've had the riffs for this song for a while, but we were never able to sow it together or find the right vocals. But I must say, some things are worth being patient with. Very proud to unleash this particularly dancy, techno punk ditty. Enjoy, hate the haters.”

Sink your teeth into the juicy track premiere below, and keep an eye out for Lizard Lounge, which drops on May 22nd on Loyal Blood Records.

Lizard Lounge
Loyal Blood Records (2020)

Barren Womb can hardly be accused of stagnation. Lizard Lounge, the fourth album by this hard working two-man band is again an interesting step further down the road. The band once started with a heavy Refused influenced framework on which they added whatever came to mind. The albums that followed showed slightly more focus, but Barren Womb kept writing songs that are all … Read more

Shortly after releasing their debut full length I had the opportunity to have a chat with Barren Womb. They then told me they liked playing in a two-man band as it gave them the opportunity to work really fast. The decision making process is so much easier without a lot of different opinions around. These words seemed to be true … Read more
