The Obsessed - Live at Big Dipper

Formed in 1980 and celebrating their fortieth anniversary as a band this year, The Obsessed released Live at Big Dipper yesterday, an authorized bootleg from one of founder Wino's favorite shows with the band's early lineup.

This recording at a Maryland club features drummer Dave "The Slave" Flood and bassist Mark "Professor Dark" Laue plus singer/guitarist and mainstay Scott "Wino" Weinrich.

As an authorized bootleg, the audio quality is suspect, but captures the band's core heart and energy.

"This show at the Big Dipper was one of the last if not the last show of the OG Obsessed lineup, and it’s my favorite by far.  It’s raw and noisy and took some cleanin’ up, but here it is.  If it ain’t heavy, it ain’t shit!!!," Wino says of the release.

Live at Big Dipper is available via Blues Funeral Recordings.

The divine inspiration. In the words of The Obsessed guitarist/vocalist Scott "Wino" Weinrich, the divine inspiration is when a song comes together in a single effort.
