Spiritiste, from Baton Rouge, LA, has announced their debut album Excommunicationn Hymns, coming out as a joint release between Protagonist Music and Tor Johnson Records on Oct. 31.

The band tackles issues including political and environmental tensions -- traditional hardcore material -- but with an occult twist.

The first single is "Now I Am Become…," of which vocalist Jades notes, “This song is the most theatrical on the album with a clear, almost cinematic narrative. It features a character fueled by hatred, hell-bent on having its way. The character is an allegory for the careless damage we do to ourselves and others.”

See the band in New Orleans tonight.

Live dates:

10/15/2025 at Fred Hampton Free Store in New Orleans w/Sulk ii, Tidus, Gall, and Hijack the Float.
11/14/2025 at Mid City Ballroom in Baton Rouge (album release show) w/Slowhole, Panama Papers & Quilt.
