Harsh post-punk band Pretty Baby, of Charlotte, NC, has announced their debut album which will release on April 3. The record, Layaway Plot, comes via Expert Work Records (Columbia, MO), The Ghost Is Clear Records (Kansas City, MO) and Mishap Records (Boise, ID).

The band began as a solo outlet for vocalist/guitarist Rusty Colton in 2016, writing in response to the common narrator trope of love songs, writing "as the character Pretty Baby, a drug-addled and washed up rockstar who still believed deep down he was worthy of being the subject of all of these songs."

The project expanded into a full band, releasinng an untitled EP in 2022 prior to the new full-length, fittingly described as a mash-up of DC, Olympia, and Richmond-inspired sounds.

The band also includes Lenny Muckle on bass/synth, Vince D’Ambrosio on drums, Ryan Halberg on guitar/synth, and Colton on guitar/vocals.
