A limited pressing 12" single, "The White Cedars" b/w "Stream Keeper" will soon release from Panopticon and Bindrune Recordings, out on March 27. The single is a prelude to the band's upcoming Det Hjemsøkte Hjertet

"The White Cedars" was chosen as one of the new album's more emblematic tracks, while the b-side in a new interpretation of a song originally by Seidr (feat. Panopticon/Wheels Wheels Within Wheels members).

“'The White Cedars' is the moment in the album’s narrative when the solitary protagonist confronts the consequences of his chosen life. He reflects on his decision to withdraw from others, avoiding the risks and vulnerabilities that come with emotional bonds – the very risks his parents and grandparents once embraced, which allowed him to exist in the first place. Reaching the end of his life without meaningful connections, he recognizes the cost of that path. The song becomes a lament for what might have been, and a meditation on the chances we never take," Austin Lunn says of the track.

Bindrune is also repressing The Splintered Oar by Weft and has opened preorders for a split Weft/Nemorous cd.

Their folk infused black metal was a breath of fresh air for the scene, with A.Lunn making things more interesting, using unconventional tactics. The only worrying part of all this … Read more

Many people (I was going to say all but did not want to over generalize) seem to have certain touchstones with regards to certain styles of music, and in one short year, Panopticon has become one of those “bands” (in quotes because this is really a one man project) for me; …On The Subject Of Mortality… is the record that … Read more

Flenser (2011)

Did you ever just get constantly impressed with the evolution that an artist or group of artists make through the progression of their work and craft? Panopticon certainly is making that type of impression on me at this particular juncture as the one man political black metal project drops one of the more politically acerbic records that I have heard … Read more
