Post-hardcore band Vita Ruina will soon release a new 7", Modern Frames, out via Mind Over Matter Records on Sept. 18.
The title track is streaming below, with the band noting:
At its heart "Modern Frames" is about discovering that while the ‘frames’ we live in might break, change, or evolve, genuine human connection and the authenticity of the lessons we learn from those experiences can endure.
At a deeper level, "Modern Frames" explores the fragile structures we build to define ourselves -- our identities, memories, relationships, and the expectations that shape who we believe we're meant to be. The song reflects on what happens when those foundations begin to fracture under the weight of trauma, time and change -- forcing us to confront who we are beyond the roles or ‘frames’ we've created for ourselves. And as that certainty dissolves and reality blurs and our ‘frames’ change, we find ourselves constantly searching for some sort of authenticity.
