Melodic hardcore band Nagusame is here to challenge us. The band, named for the Japanese word for comfort and solace (慰め) shared a new single recently with the French title of "L'appel du Vide" ("The Call of the Void"). It is one-sixth of the band's newest EP, this one titled in English: I Want To Leave, out on Nov. 6 on White Russian Records..
Now that we've thrown a run-on sentence at ya, here's what Nagusame has to say about "L'appel du Vide."
"The song takes its name from the French phrase for 'the call of the void' - the strange impulse to jump when standing at the edge of a precipice. Here, that feeling becomes a metaphor for the creeping emptiness of everyday life: looking ahead and seeing no end in sight, looking back and wondering what went wrong, and feeling the void closing in from both sides. The question is whether you can resist its pull, or whether you eventually just let go."
