Syrup Moose Records will cease at the end of 2026, but they’re going out with a series of late releases including the third album from MEGAFAUNA, a self-titled follow-up to 2025’s I Owe This Land A Body. It also keeps the project’s streak of a record per year intact, as they also put out Venator in 2024.
This time around, the experimental electronic act feels a little more energetic, with a pulsing rhythm behind the more ambient and sometimes soundscape tones that lay the foundation. While rhythmic, it is not predictable. Think irregular heartbeats: dread and anxiety set to sometimes beautiful atonal sounds.
