Brutal Youth is back, and Scene Point Blank is excited to debut the video for "Through the Teeth."
The new song is one of many on Rebuilding Year, a new album from the Toronto-based melodic hardcore group, set for release on April 21 via Stomp Records.
The song title alone captures the band's blend of accessible melody merged with self-loathing at a world gone wrong. Think early '90s West Coast punk that shows its grit on the surface.
"Through the Teeth" shows the band exploring these tones from a more personal, brooding perspective, says vocalist Patty O'Lantern:
This one was one of the first songs we had for the album, the idea was to try and have an album with more tempos instead of them all being spit in your face fast. Not that we don't love spit in your face fast music, but I think we've done that and this was to be a bit of a departure and some space for growth. The breakdown originally had no words and it felt a bit empty, I'm pretty chuffed with the end result.
With 14 songs in total, Brutal Youth mixes it up on Rebuilding Year, with "Through the Teeth," plus melodic singalongs and over-before-you-know-it ragers.
