Debt Neglector interviews Virginity
Debt Neglector interviews Virginity

Scene Point Blank couldn’t personally attend The Fest this year, so we did the next best things -- we asked the bands playing to share their experience.

In advance, members of Virginity interviewed Debt Neglector about what they were most excited about. Now we’ve flipped it around: Alex Goldfarb of Debt Neglector interviews Casey Crawford of Virginity about some Fest 19 highlights, and one extreme low point for Casey personally.

Virginity was also kind enough to helm the SPB Twitter on Sunday, a day after the incident.

Both bands have new records out this fall: Virginity's Popmortem (released Oct. 8) and Debt Neglector's Dirty Water (out on Nov. 5).

Alex Goldfarb: So… let’s get this out of the way! You fucked your knee up real bad at your set Saturday night! That exact thing happened to me at a show in DC many years ago. I had to get carried off stage and taken to the hospital. How are you holding up?? Tell the people what happened.

Casey Crawford: So during our fifth song, for no real reason, I had a very severe knee dislocation that, upon arriving at the hospital, we discovered had also minorly fractured my patella (kneecap). It was such a major bummer because we’ve been waiting so long to play that set and people had shown up and we’re singing and shit. It was also the funniest possible scenario. I had a really hot comedy set on the floor of The Wooly stage while we waited for the paramedics.

Alex Goldfarb: What was the best set you saw this weekend? (you don’t have to say us -- it’s ok)

Casey Crawford: I mean, I definitely had the most fun at y’all’s cover set singing “Sucked Out.”

The best sets I watched (I can’t settle on one) were: Teenage Halloween, Taking Meds, Pet Symmetry, and Home is Where.

Alex Goldfarb: What was your non-band related Fest highlight? (Ex: something you did, something you ate, something you saw?)

Casey Crawford: Honestly it was just seeing so many of my friends I hadn’t seen in so long. Also, during Covid I made a lot of internet friends who I got to meet for real for the first time and that ruled.

Alex Goldfarb: Why did you steal our guitar player and do we need to go before a judge to make custody arrangements?

Casey Crawford: I’m gonna hire that lawyer with the billboard on I-4 that’s rolling up his sleeve like he’s going to punch everyone in the courtroom.

Alex Goldfarb: What’s your dream band (or bands) that Tony could book for Fest next year?

Casey Crawford: I’d love to see PUP return to Gainesville. A BTMI reunion would be so sick. Really any kind of Rosenstock would rule.

Alex Goldfarb: Now that Popmortem is out in the world, how do you feel about the reception it’s gotten from fans and critics? Were there any surprising takes or comparisons in your album reviews?

Casey Crawford: Man, it’s just a relief to have it out really. Everyone has been so positive about it and that makes us all feel great. I never know what to expect when stuff comes out, but it seems like people are digging it and that’s been rad!

Alex Goldfarb: You have 4 kids! How do they feel about you being in a band? Do they think it’s cool or do they think you’re having some kind of a midlife crisis?

Casey Crawford: My kids think it’s cool and at the same time are almost entirely ambivalent towards it. What I’ve learned having had kids for a good while now is that to have a child is kind of a constant ego death and it’s playing out the same way with music. They keep me humble with their lack of fucks to be given, hahaha.

Alex Goldfarb: Since now you’ve done a “collab” with Eve 6 do you have any plans to partner up with any other ‘90s alt rock icons? Sublime w/ Casey? Casey and the Blowfish? You’ve got options!

Casey Crawford: lol, no plans, but I would 100% do any collab with any ‘90s band if I happen to fall ass backwards into it again.

Alex Goldfarb: Do you have any advice for people that might attend Fest next year that have never gone before?

Casey Crawford: My advice is to simply go with the flow. You can make a plan and have your schedule, but at the end of the day it’s best to let Fest lead you where it wants you to be. Some of my favorite Fest memories are because I was somewhere with some people that was totally unplanned.

Unseemlier

Interviews • April 24, 2026

It was about a year ago I discovered Unseemlier, shortly before the release of I Have A Screw Loose, Somewhere. It's a wordy title and a somewhat unwieldy band name -- and I’ll use that “a lot going on in a little space” metaphor even further to talk about the … Read more

The Arrivals have been a band for 30 years -- though they’ve made us wait 16 years for the follow-up to 2010’s Volatile Molotov. While a ton of time has passed and the band has moved, literally in some cases, and raised children in others, their sound is still the … Read more
