Foundation/Ann Beretta (Rob Huddleston)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2008?

  1. Alkaline Trio - Agony and Irony
  2. Bruce Springsteen - Magic
  3. Dead to Me - Little Brother
  4. The Gaslight Anthem - The ?59 Sound
  5. Cruiserweight - Rocks the Moon

What band did you discover in 2008 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

Thanks to my friend Chris Moran at punknews.org for getting me into The Gaslight Anthem. It's totally his fault that I love this band so much right now. I think I listen to "The ?59 Sound" at least once a day currently.

How will you remember 2008? (In terms of music)

Well, on a personal level for me the year was about working with old friends again - my bandmates as well as Vinnie Fiorello of Less Than Jake who is releasing another Foundation record on his new label, Paper+Plastick.

Vinyl record sales saw a significant increase this year while hard copy sales continued to dwindle. Is this a return to the glory days for vinyl or just a phase? Explain.

I'm so glad that vinyl is taking over. I'm a record collector so for me this is great news and I love it. I always buy my favorite records on vinyl even if I have a CD or digital copy of it first. Its great that like Paper+Plastick, many labels are releasing vinyl and giving a digital copy away with it.

What was the most memorable moment for you in 2008? (Can be in terms of anything)

Fest 7 - being in Gainesville again was a blast. It was the one place I could be and see so many friends all at once.

What can we look forward to from you in 2009?

New Foundation record and some touring. I hope to make it out as much as possible and to anywhere that will have me.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2009?

I'm looking forward to the new AFI record. I really loved the last one and can't wait to hear what they do next. I'm hoping that Dustin Kensrue of Thrice releases another solo album of new material and hearing something new from Jesse Malin would be great. I'm really curious about what Green Day is working on to follow up "American Idiot."
