Ceremony/Skin Like Iron

(Anthony Anzaldo)

What are your top five albums that were released in 2009? (In order 1-5)

  1. AFI - Crash Love

  2. Antony and the Johnsons - The Crying Light

  3. Metric - Fantasies

  4. Silversun Pickups - Swoon

  5. Prince - LOtUSFLOW3R

What band did you discover in 2009 (can be a brand new band or an older band) that had an impact on your life? What made them significant?

I first heard Antony and the Johnsons for the first time in late December 2008 while on tour in Europe with Never Healed. After the New Year I got Antony's first record and instantly fell in love and became mildly obsessed. His voice is so unique and dramatic, and the fact that somebody's music can sound so fresh and original in this day and age really shows you how special it is.

How will you remember 2009? (In terms of music)

The year that Crash Love came out.

2009 was a huge year for reunions. What reunion excited you the most? What band that has not reunited would you love to see play/record most in 2010?

I was really excited for the Unbroken reunion, Toast and I went to go see them in Southern California and it was truly amazing. I hear TLC is making a new record, which I am assuming means that they would tour, which would be awesome. I would love to see TLC.

What can we look forward to from you in 2010?

Ceremony is releasing a new full-length and a covers record, both will be totally killer. Skin Like Iron will also be releasing new material, and myself, Pat Flynn (Have Heart), Andy Nelson (Paint It Black) and Nate Manning (Cruel Hand) are starting a straight edge band called Fuck Drugs. We will release an EP sometime in 2010.

What three records are you looking forward to most in 2010?

I'm not exactly sure on what is supposed to be coming out in 2010, but I am very excited for the new Blacklisted EP. No One Deserves To Be Here More Than Me is such a great stride for them and I can't wait to hear what they will follow it up with.
