Niklas (Ef)

SPB: If you had your choice, which guest musician would you want to feature on an album?

EF: Have always put a lot of interest in arranging strings and horns in order to create a beautiful and bombastic touch to the normal guitar based post rock setting. Until now we (or our member Daniel) have been writing these arrangements and worked with more or less professional musicians to play these parts for us. So it would be magical to work with a big hero of mine on this part; Clint Mansell. To be "less post-rock" in my reply I would love to bring in either Radiohead’Thom Yorke or Jonny Greenwood (not both at the same time though) into the studio and see what interesting ideas they would love to bring to the table.

Paul (Long Relief) SPB: What inspired the seemingly baseball-ish name? Paul: I was an enormous nerd about baseball as a kid, and pitching long relief is a weird kind of purgatory for a pitcher to be in. It’s usually either someone who used to be a starter but can’t pitch … Read more

Invada (2023)

In December 2019, Benefits released their “Marlboro Hundreds” single. The UK act sourced all the fury and urgency of punk, wrapping it into a devastating noise facade and powerviolence demeanor. A prime example of weaponized music, and while through the years Benefits have morphed, their poignant messaging remains. Now, their debut record, Nails, sees them revisit some of their early … Read more
