Jake (Painted Light – guitar)
SPB: What type of guitar do you play (and how did you land on this one)?
Jake: Fender 1972 Thinline Telecaster!
I love it because the tone is warm, not too bright -- but the highs come through well, and the pickups are hot enough to really project the tapping parts into tbe next level. The main one I play (The natural wood one that our bassist, Ben Law, got for me years ago) is super heavy and thick, so it resonates much better than my newer, fun pink-colored one (The Chicago Music Exchange custom design). The natural wood one originally came with orange strings on it, so we call it "Cheeto." The pink one is called "Pinky," for now at least.
