SPB: Where do you make a point to bring visitors when they pass through your hometown?

Prayer Group: We always like to take people from out of town down to the James River when we can. It runs right through downtown Richmond, so it's kind of our trashy city beach, and it's the spot to hang and drink a few beers in the sun when it's nice out.

We're also spoiled by great restaurants here- Matt is a freak for pho and currently reps Pho Tay Do as the spot in town, and Anthony likes to take people to a killer deli and breakfast spot called Perly's. 821 Cafe is also a go-to choice for vegan/vegetarian friends.

Record collectors always want to stop at the legendary Vinyl Conflict, and sometimes GWARbar is the place to drink purely because people can't believe that GWAR has a bar. They do, though.

Richmond rules.

Standing between genres can act as a vantage point. For Prayer Group, sitting at the intersection between noise rock and hardcore has armed them with the necessary arsenal to propel their anger and frustration forward. And so, through a series of EPs and singles, this work culminated in their 2022 debut full-length, Michael Dose, where The Jesus Lizard methodology collided … Read more
