Årabrot sets date for album #10

Posted in Records on July 23, 2023

Husband-wife duo Årabrot is back, sharing the single "You Cast Long Shadows" this week, in advance of the release of new album Of Darkness and Light -- out October 13 on Pelagic Records. It is the band's tenth album thus far, and was recorded at Djura Missionshus, their home studio in a deconsecrated church in rural Sweden, where vocalist/guitarist Kjetil Nernes and vocalist/keyboardist Karin Park reside with their children.

Having originated in the noise rock scene, the band's recent releases has shifted toward theatrical occult rock to the point where this single, Park explains, has origins outside the band's domain:

Kjetil was asked to write a song for Sebastian Bach’s new album. We weren’t too schooled up on Sebastian Bach to be honest, but Kjetil thought it would be interesting to write a grungy Crowleyan occult murder ballad. He spent a few days in the studio and wrote two demos which were both immediately rejected by Sebastian Bach’s management. One of the demos was "You Cast Long Shadows." It’s probably a better fit for Årabrot anyway!
