What does Gonerfest 2020 have in store?

Gone digital for 2020 for obvious reasons, Goner Records' annual celebration will take a new look this year.

The event will feature live sets from 20+ bands, including Jack Oblivian & The Sheiks, Cheater Slicks, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, Exbats, Mick Trouble, and more, plus film premieres, and other online activity.

Films include the US premiere of Country Teasers with footage of The Country Teasers/Oblivians tour in 1994), and You Got To Move: The Sacred & The Secular In The Hill Country.

Chicago's industrial music festival Cold Waves IX has revamped its 2020 plans with a virtual festival set for Sept. 18-20.

Originally the event planned for sets by My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Front 242, Stabbing Westward, and more. Instead, it will be free of charge online, with the full schedule to be announced on Thursday Sept. 10. It will include Meat Beat Manifesto, The Young Gods, Chris Connelly, and others. 

The basic rundown of the virtual festival is as follows:

Friday, September 18: Kick-Off Party
Saturday, September 19: The Main Event
Sunday, September 20: Closing Ceremonies

The fest is also releasing an exclusive 15-song compilation with artists from the event.

As for the live festival, it has been postponed until Sept. 24-26, 2021. Proceeds from the event will benefit Metro Chicago staff and Darkest Before Dawn (supporting the nightlife industry).
