Featured Stream: Jason Paul + the Know It Alls - Homemade Vol. 1

Posted in Records on August 12, 2021

Fresh off the release of Alien or Martian? earlier this year, Jason Paul + the Know It Alls is back with a new album simply titled Homemade Vol. 1.

The name doesn’t leave much to the imagination: this record was made between bandmates during the pandemic shutdowns, recorded with a “lightning” concept where Jason Paul would write a song one day, teach it to the band the next, and record that evening.

In March of 2020 we were gearing to tour Asia, but of course the pandemic squashed that. So then we were like, “What do we do now? Oh, let’s write a new album! And record the songs as we go!

It’s nice having a home studio.

Paul says of the making-of.

As such, the record is DIY in sound: warm and approachable, with a wealth of influences oozing from the punk-at-its-core tunes. While Jason Paul may be the namesake of the project, the entire group (Sean Cole, Katherine Schumacher, and Michael Espinoza) adds key ideas throughout, which giving unique flourish and depth that helps the band set themselves apart.

Homemade Vol. 1 is out today via Broken Anchor Recordings.

And you can listen to it right here, in full, as our featured stream for the month of August:
