Launched on April 1, 1999 in San Francisco, CA, Ipecac Recordings is now at the quarter-century mark, celebrating its milestone anniversary with plans to reissue select works from their deep catalog on vinyl this year.

“A label does not last 25 years without consumer support. We are not the biggest or hippest record label, that was never our goal, but we are so lucky to have such a loyal, adventurous fanbase. We appreciate you and THANK you,” says Greg Werckman, co-founder of Ipecac alongside Mike Patton (Faith No More, and much more), who adds, “Ipecac was us realizing we needed to start creating our own universe, where albums that didn’t necessarily fit other, more traditional labels, could have a home.”

The first set of new/old vinyl are three reissues from Fantômas: the self-titled debut, The Director's Cut, and Suspended Animation on May 17. The label is also reissuing Dälek’s Negro Necro Nekros, coming May 10 on digital platforms and June 28 on vinyl.

Upcoming releases include the Melvins, Alessandro “Asso” Stefana, and "a recent tease from the label hinting at something from the Jesus Lizard."

Precipice
Ipecac (2022)

It is easy to take for granted the excellent state of experimental hip-hop today. With Death Grips freely applying noise and electronica with a punk ethos, and clipping. doubling down on industrialized beats and Afro-futuristic narratives, it is easy to forget that this landscape was not always so rich. Traveling back in time, to the end of the ‘90s, it was artists like Dälek … Read more

Asphalt For Eden
Profound Lore (2016)

Dalek has long been a group for outsiders. Embracing noise, industrial and ambient genres while still holding a tenuous grip on their New York hip hop roots. There is something strangely prescient about their mix of these genres being their own thing while fully embracing a structured sound that embodies the new york aesthetic at the same time. So after … Read more

Gutter Tactics
Ipecac (2009)

Describing Dälek is always pretty tough. Despite the fact that MC Dälek himself has stated that they should be considered purely hip-hop since the origins of the genre lie in experimentation and breaking down barriers, I would conjecture that whacking Gutter Tactics onto your stereo and playing it to your average chart-loving hip-hop aficionado would result in blank stares and … Read more
