Coilguns 7" ahead of Pupil Splicer tour

Hummus Records has released a new single from Coilguns, Venetian Blinds, available on 7" and digitally.

The new single comes as the band preps for an April tour in support of Pupil Slicer, following-up a collaborative EP with Birds in Row that was released earlier this year. They may be the first band we've posted about with 2 releases already in the young new year.

The band says:

Initially, I composed this song with added electro beats, which was a departure from our usual style for Coilguns. When I presented the demo to theband, I anticipated rejection, but to my surprise, everyone loved it. Apart from the catchy chorus, what truly sets the song apart is the unconventional yet creative drumming by Luc Hess. His use of cymbals is so sparing that each strike feels like a significant event throughout the track, adding to its unique noise-pop vibe. After recording the first take in the studio, it became evident that this song hadthe potential to stand alone as a single. For the first time in Coilguns’ history. The song's foundation is so solid that it could easily be stripped down to just a piano or an acoustic guitar. This is the direction we envision for the new, contemporary Coilguns.

Cédric (Icare) SPB: Charogne was written to be played live. Playing a 43-minute piece live seems like quite the task. Was the song intended like this or did it evolve into one epic piece (and a real challenge to be played live)? Cédric: Charogne was always meant to be made up … Read more
