Dismiss Get Lost (In) Transmission(s)
Dismiss, 1996 preparing to leave on their first tour with fellow mid-westerners Braid

Denver’s Snappy Little Numbers and Dayton’s Rad Girlfriend have teamed up to release early recordings of Peoria Illinois band Dismiss. Lost Transmissions: 1995-1996 showcases 11 mostly unreleased songs recorded after their 2 song 7” and 2 comp tracks on Naked Bum Records, but before their demise a year later. Thoughts Words Action premiered the first single “Trap” from the upcoming vinyl LP in mid April. The physical release includes liner notes paying touching tribute to late singer guitarist Gared O’Donnell who passed away in 2021 of cancer. From the ashes of Dismiss, Gared and two of his bandmates relocated to Denver Colorado where they formed Planes Mistaken For Stars, who helped define a style of post-hardcore that at the time we called emo.

Mark this down. This is the comeback record of the year for me. Planes Mistaken for Stars dropped the ball with Up in Them Guts right when they seemed poised to take the indie scene by storm. It was so lackluster for me that I did not have especially high hopes for this new record. With Matt Bellinger jumping ship … Read more
