Enjoy the acronym heavy headline?

Anyway, Atlantic CIty, NJ will host the first Frantic City Music Festival on Sept. 24, sponsored by Holdfast Records and hosted by Fred Armisen. The inaugural festival will take place at Orange Loop Amphitheater and features sets by Yo La Tengo, Murder City Devils, Rocket From the Crypt, Superchunk, Shannon and the Clams, Samiam, and more.

Co-creator Joe HoldFast says in a press release: “Todd and I were approached by Pat and Charlie of Bourre in Atlantic City. They asked if we would build something that we thought would represent and showcase what Atlantic City has to offer. As someone who worked in venues in Asbury Park, NJ I saw a lot of comparisons and it really made me want to be a part of the revitalization of Atlantic City. I have been very fortunate to work on a lot of shows and festivals, on a lot of different levels, but never as a co-creator. The opportunity to work with and learn from Todd, and use our collective skills to build something meaningful, both musically and culturally in Atlantic City, seemed like a perfect fit.”

The festival takes place just near the city's famed boardwalk. Full lineup below. More info at the festival's website.

The White Ghost Has Blood on Its Hands Again
Independent (2014)

Reunited bands have a tendency to disappoint. Maybe their hearts aren’t in it the second time around, maybe they’ve changed as artists and individuals, or maybe the expectations of a rabid fanbase are impossible to meet.Whatever the case, let’s put aside our memories of In Name and Blood, their last studio full-length which came out 14 years ago, and focus … Read more

Orphan Works
No Idea (2010)

We haven’t heard a new album from Samiam in 5 years. However, in 2010, they did release a rarities collection of outtakes, radio performances, and live recordings. Even some covers recorded in Billie Joe Armstrong’s basement made it onto this compilation. Orphan works pulls from 6 years of material during the band's Clumsy and You Are Freaking Me Out eras, … Read more

All Systems Go Volume 3
Vagrant/Swami (2008)

Leaving behind a recording legacy as large as Rocket from the Crypt is doing rates fairly high on the impressive scale considering how difficult it is to maintain consistency and relevance over a couple of albums let alone the roughly six full-lengths as well as a multitude of EP's and singles that this rock and roll outfit is responsible for … Read more
