Mammoth Grinder

Chris Ulsh (Mammoth Grinder)

SPB: What is the weirdest description you’ve heard of your music? Do you think it’s accurate in any way or can you see where it came from?

Ulsh: In the earliest years of our band we played a show in downtown Dallas. I don't remember who the show was with, most likely for the best. The band after us had just played a song when they said, "I wanna thank Mammoth Grinder, awesome skate thrash from Austin." My brain completed a series of backflips before I realized this guy had seen us skating before the show while we were trying to kill time in Deep Ellum. Three 6 foot tall ogres cruising around a parking lot, born to do anything but skate and not landing a single trick. Still not sure who the bigger poser was that night.

20 Buck Spin (2013)

Mammoth Grinder have made a name for themselves by playing a mix of old school death metal , d-beat and hardcore. While that combination of influences isn't singular to them they have played it with a considerable amount of consistency and rage. This got the attention of more than a few people including 20 Buck Spin. While not their first … Read more
