Following the release of Traverse in 2020, south Florida’s The Sons of James returns with a new track and video, “Boswell,” which we’re excited to premiere for you now.
"Boswell” is an anthem of hope, determination and strength,” drummer Steve Blair tells us. “There’s a lot of backstories to this song that stem across a lot of different people’s lives. From overcoming drug and alcohol addiction, losing everything that one has built and worked for over a lifetime, to some that have given most of their lives to reach goals that haven’t been achieved yet and often feel like they won’t, Boswell reinforces the will to never give up and never let go."
That resolve is on display as the song is both emotional, yet driving and, ultimately, uplifting.
And that, in a nutshell, is the story of The Sons of James as well. The band name is a reference to the late Kyle James, who was in an early lineup of the band and passed away.
Musically, they play a marriage of ‘90s skatepunk with more contemporary melodic pop-punk. The band is working on new material, with more expected in the coming year.
