A Lawrence Arms collection is on its way

Posted in Records on January 30, 2018

Chicago's The Lawrence Arms have annnounced a new 29-song collection set to release in March in honor of the band's 19 year longevity, titled We Are the Champions Of The World (Fat Wreck Chords).

The new album is described as "evolution" of the band, rather than a greatest hits collection. While the band curated the track list themselves (listed in full), the noteworthy inclusion is that it also features two previously unreleased songs from the Oh, Calcutta! sessions.

“They didn't make the cut because they just didn't fit in the structure of that album, which ended up being very focused and thematic,” says co-vocalist Brendan Kelly. "Some of these songs never made it past the demo stage, but even so, they show how tightly focused the band was during this period, with even the scraps left behind sounding vital and potent.

The band will also be touring this spring with Red City Radio and Sincere Engineer. They last released Metropole in 2014.
