Lauren Denitzio (Measure [SA], Worriers) Curates Compilation For Planned Parenthood

Posted in Records on September 15, 2011

Paper + Plastick Records will be releasing a compilation album consisting of pop-punk bands, all fronted by women. It's entited, Are You With The Band?, and it was curated by Lauren Denitzio (who formally fronted The Measure [SA] and now Worriers). “The title comes from the still, unfortunately, common situation of women being asked if they're IN the band or WITH the band when trying to load in for shows. Being the only woman in the band, I still get asked this sometimes, whereas the other guys hardly get asked that, if at all. It's assumed you must be the roadie or merch girl or girlfriend or something, which is incredibly frustrating. I still get comments on a regular basis about how cool it is to see a girl singing and we still get compared to the same two or three groups solely because they have female vocals, not because our music or my voice sound anything like them. We are women who play music, put out records, put on shows, make flyers and zines, create cover art, and support our scenes. We are far from alone anymore and this LP is meant to celebrate that.”

Tracklist (* previously unreleased):
1. Aye Nako – Bent Out Of Shape*
2. Cheeky – Two Face
3. Black Rainbow – Make Amends*
4. Dead Dog – Couch*
5. Sourpatch – Things You Say*
6. Little Lungs – Things Fall Apart
7. Slingshot Dakota – Michael Jordan Saved My Life
8. The Measure [sa] – Stop Calling*
9. The New Dress – Hey Kid*
10. No More – Flatland*
11. Noun – TV Shows*
12. The Two Funerals – Too Late*
13. Shellshag – Crybaby*
14. The Homewreckers - Uncontrolable Decay*
15. P.S. Eliot – Entendre*
16. WITCHES – Grey
