Chris Walla Has Album Confiscated

Posted in Records on October 17, 2007

Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie fame recently had his long-delayed solo album confiscated by Homeland Security at the Canadian border.  The album, which was being transported via hard drive by a courier from Canada - where he has been working on it as of late - to Barsuk Records headquarters in the U.S. was confiscated by Homeland Security's forensics department. Homeland Security has not identified reasoning behind the seizure at this time, but the album's subject material may be a clue. According to Walla's recent interview with MTV, the album is titled Field Manual and the layout for the album contains images "about how to build what we now call an [improvised explosive device] in Iraq or Afghanistan. Like how to hide a bomb in a bed or in a tube of toothpaste." Walla also comments that there are songs with subject matters pertaining to the war in Iraq, the domestic policy displayed during Katrina, and contraception. No mention was made of where the album is currently located or its future.

You can read the full story about the album online here.
