Sinking Ships Provide Update On Label / Band Status

Posted in Bands on December 2, 2007

Sinking Ships recently provided a detailed update on their status. In the update the band addressed rumors that they had broken up by reassuring fans that they will in fact continue on, albeit in a more limited fashion.  The band also confirmed that they have departed from Revelation Records, but had already self-released a new 7" and will record and release a new full-length on their own next year. Sinking Ships released Ten earlier this year and Disconnecting last year via Revelation. To view the entire update, click "read more."

First off, WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP. It's been a rough couple months but we still have more stuff we want to do, so we aren't ready to call it quits yet. We have parted ways with our label Revelation Records, and our drummer Andy is moving to Boston though. I want to make a few things clear about these two things. we left Revelation. They did not 'drop' us. Also, Andy did move to Boston to work at Deathwish and join Meltdown, but he didn't quit Sinking Ships. He's still our drummer. We just wrote 2 songs for a split CD in Japan, and we will be writing a new record this March. He will still tour with us, just fly out when he needs to. Any local shows or small touring will be covered by former Shook Ones drummer, nasty. We just released two 7"s, one on Revelation (ten) and one that I put out myself (with a massive amount of help from Bob Shedd). This is a tour only 7" and there's 500 of them, but most people don't realize it exists cause we've only had it at Sound and Fury and in Europe. Since we left Rev we are planning on doing our next LP ourselves. It might not be the smartest thing to choose to put out a record ourselves instead of having Rev do it, but fuck it. We'll see how it goes. So far we know it's going to start as 1000 LPs, and we will figure out the CDs when we get to it. I mean who the fuck buys CDs anymore? We should start recording sometime in March/April. I'll probly do a limited 7" of the Japan songs at some point between now and then too, but we'll how that goes too. And just because we are doing this next one ourselves doesn't mean we are swearing off labels all together. So far we haven't had the greatest experiences, but hopefully we will work get to with someone else down the road. Finally, I wanted to say a few things about touring. We are done for the year, and so far in 2008 we have Japan in March, Europe in June, and we should be going down the West Coast again sometime in January or February. After that there's nothing planned so far. We probably won't be getting out there as much as we did last year, but we'll do our best to tour as much as we can.
