Toronto punks The Mendozaz are premiering a new single today, “An American Werewolf in London, Ontario” off their upcoming The Completely Fictional History Of This Great Nation of Canada EP.
Of course, the single inspired by the classic horror flick is also timely for Halloween.
It is “an epic tale of forbidden inter-species romance spread across the border,” vocalist Jonny says, admitting the song changed direction during the writing process.
“It was supposed to be some menacing, proggy thing but the peppy, infectious vocal hook won out and here we are. Classic example of heart over head. Kind of like our werewolf friend.”
Think pogo punk and Groovie Ghoulies with a Canadian twist. The EP releases on Nov. 3 via Cartridge Heart, with 8 songs putting a satirical yarn on Canadian folklore.
