SPB premiere: "Brain In A Jar" by Dad Hats

Posted in Bands on April 22, 2024

Dad Hats have a new single, available exclusively below. The song "Brain In A Jar" (acoustic) will appear on an upcoming 7" via Mind Over Matter records later this year but you can hear it first here.

The Nashville, TN based band recently released their second album, Spill, an adventure in melodic and emotive punk rock 'n' roll.

"Brain In A Jar" was the first song written for Spill, and we originally felt as though the song was a bit of an oddball amongst the final track listing once everything was put into place," the band tells us, explaining its standalone release formal. "During one live show, Craig (vocals) showed up in a tuxedo and proceeded to play the song by himself while standing in the middle of the crowd, and it suddenly made perfect sense as a stripped down and vulnerable display. We took inspiration from this to re-record the song with the same feel as that moment when we first heard Craig singing this song by himself and we hope that you picture him standing in your living room or riding shotgun in a tux, singing directly to you.”

And there you have it. Preorder the 7" from Mind Over Matter before its release on April 26. The label also has copies of Spill available.
