86'ed Records has a three-tiered update, beginning with an immediate new release: Should and Want, a 4-song CD EP from Stupid Plots of Japan. The label is sharing a US edition with English and Japanese liner notes

The label also teased a couple of 2026 updates.

Noting the 10-year anniversary of Boilerman's Feel Ways About Stuff, plus the 10-year mark since the band's hiatus began after a 2016 Japan tour, the 10 year-old recorfd will be reissued digitally.

Finally, the label is also planning a split CD tribute to the late Brian Donnelly of Rations/Rations Noise called Rotting Trees Nourish Soil -- not a covers tribute, but a tribute to Donnelly from his old band Rations and its related group Rations Noise.

"These are the last four RATIONS songs Brian recorded, and the three RATIONS NOISE compositions are built from samples of Brian's 90s and 00s 4-track demos," the label says.

It took me 8 minutes to listen, so it should 8 minutes to write it too. Or, something. Really that’s just a bad Futurama reference so I can “cleverly” say that this is a short EP with 5 songs total. The song names are on this EP are “I,” “II,” “Weak Week,” “III,” and “IV.” Speaking of clever.Boilerman are punk … Read more

86'd records (2013)

Released on 86’d Records, I came to Rations with a blank slate. Thirty seconds of research tells me the band is a four-piece from Long Island and includes, among others, 86’d Records’ own Wells as a member. Trivia aside, most folks don’t buy a piece of vinyl based on any of that info above. They buy it because it’s good … Read more

Jim (Boilerman - guitar) SPB: What's the most overrated guitar feature? eg. whammy bars, D-Tuna? Jim: I don't know about overrated, but my most hated guitar feature is the floating bridge. The Dan Electro guitar I use for Boilerman doesn't have one, but the guitar I learned on did and … Read more

Kris (Boilerman – bass) SPB: What’s your favorite format of release (7”, LP, etc)? Kris: I think the 7" is a great format, physically speaking. Its layout space is pretty easy to fill nicely, but storing 7-inches isn't as nice. They're so hard to rifle through and they get lost … Read more

Jim (Boilerman) SPB: What’s with the numerical song titles on the EP? Jim: The deal with the numerical song titles for the 10" is two-fold. First, all the songs on the record deal with really similar subject matter -- they're all more or less about different facets of existential anxiety. … Read more
