Botanist - VIII: Selenotrope

A new track from Botanist, "Angel's Trumpet," plants the seeds for a new album, VIII: Selenotrope, coming out May 19.

"The notion of a 'Selenotrope', a plant that only blooms in moonlight, was in the mental vault since 2016, as were the drums that I had recorded for when the day came", Otrebor explains. "The added solitude of the lockdown, in addition to the solitude that I normally prefer, was the conduit to entering this new place in the Verdant Realm. After I completed tracking, I sent the session to Dan Swanö, with whom I had already loved working for the 'Photosynthesis album. Dan felt that 'Angel's Trumpet' was the album's banger. So here it is to introduce you to the nocturnal floral world of 'VIII: Selenotrope'."

VIII: Selenotrope track list:

1. Against the Selenic Light
2. Risen from the Rain
3. Epidendrum Nocturnum
4. Mirabilis
5. Angel's Trumpet
6. Selenotrope
7. Sword of the Night
8. The Flowering Dragon

At the same time, stylistically the band departed from not only the traditional extreme … Read more

Flenser (2014)

The whole concept of one-man black metal projects is quite old. From back in the ‘90s you would have acts like Burzum and Ildjarn (although they would feature also Nidhogg occasionally.) Those acts were great and it was quite nice to see that other musicians today would adapt the same philosophy and try to create solitary projects, with excellent examples … Read more
