New tune from Tunic

Posted in Records on July 10, 2021

Tunic, a noise rock band from Winnipefg, Canada, has a new album out this fall called Quitter.

Quitter is the band's second album and was engineered and mixed by Jace Lasek (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) at Private Ear Studios in Winnipeg, mastered by Carl Saff (Bambara, Human Impact), and officially releases on October 15 via Artoffact Records.

The band formed in 2012 and pulls from the AmRep playbook with angular guitars, distorted bass, and max volume.

"The whole record is about quitting," says vocalist David Schellenberg explains, which ranges in topics from a changing lineup (co-founder/bassist Rory Ellis is no longer in the group), to sobriety and more. "I quit smoking, drinking, and a job I had grown to hate," Schellenberg adds. "I quit being stubborn about my mental illness and finally started taking medication for it."

Tunic is scheduled to play at No Coast 2021 in Denton, TX on October 2.
