Xiu Xiu Tour, Etc.

Posted in Tours on April 28, 2010

Art-pop provocateurs Xiu Xiu have been involved in plenty of mind-boggling and arguably disgusting body-horror art projects lately, from giving away t-shirts written in real blood to the vomit-centric video for "Dear God, I Hate Myself". And here they go again...

Basically, the band wants you to bring them a lock of your hair. At every one of their forthcoming shows, they'll give away a special package with a Xiu Xiu comb and a sticker pack to the first person who brings them a lock of hair. As for what they're going to do with that hair... well, that's after the jump.

After their international tour, they'll light each one of those locks of hair on fire, and they'll film themselves inhaling the smoke while saying the name of the person whose lock of hair it is. Given that burning hair has the nastiest smell in the world, we could be looking at a reprise of the "Dear God, I Hate Myself" video here.

In less brain-warping news, Xiu Xiu and Deerhoof will team up to cover Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures in its entirety tomorrow night at Donaufestival in Krems, Austria. We've got the rest of their tour dates below.
