Arctic Rodeo Recordings has announced that the vinyl focused label will cease operations after 19 years.
The label, founded and still run today by heads Frank and Frederic says, "Unfortunately, a lot has changed for Arctic Rodeo in recent years. The structures of the music industry itself, but also the family and professional environment," according to Frank. "Priorities have shifted, making it increasingly difficult to find the necessary time and energy to run a label - albeit a small DIY label by our own standards - as 'professionally', successfully and enjoyably as possible."
"When I look back on this time, I feel a deep sense of gratitude towards music fans, artists and the media who have supported us," Frederic adds in a press statement. "You should stop when it's at its best. And when I think about how many great people and great musicians we've been able to work with, we've achieved far more than I ever thought possible. It's the right time to draw a line under it."
While the label will soon cease, the store will remain open. They are offering discounts as they plan to clear out their warehouse.

"In the early to mid 2000s the music industry wasn't exactly popping off and finding a label was pretty tough. Garrett and I had a second record with our band Solea....and despite the idea that he was the voice of Texas is the Reason and I was the main 'composer' (heh, heh for lack of a better term) of Samiam...well, it was a hard thing to find. In fact, in america we never found a proper label for this release. We sort of lucked out with the band and secured a Japanese label to pay for recordings we made, but if it wasn't for Arctic Rodeo I don't know if anyone in Germany or Europe would have cared enough to deal with our silly asses.
