Rock For Hope collective covers Ramones for charity

A collective of musicians calling itself Rock For Hope has shared a cover of the Ramones' "I Believe In Miracles" to raise funds for COVID-19 related causes, plus to raise spirits in general. The collective includes Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Rival Schools, CIV), Frank Turner, Eugene Hutz (Gogol Bordello), Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Justin Hawkins (The Darkness), Brett Anderson (The Donnas), Tom Higgenson (Plain White T's), Nathen Maxwell (Flogging Molly, The Bunny Gang), Mike Miley (Rival Sons), Boris Pelekh (Gogol Bordello, Hey Guy), and Roy Cardenas (Mutemath).

The group is raising funds for Partners In Health, a global health organization aimed at bringing quality health care to the most vulnerable around the world.

Listen to the cover and read a statement after the bump.

Music director and project organizer Boris Pelekh says:

Rock For Hope was inspired by my mom who’s in her mid-sixties and a staff nurse at New York Presbyterian in Queens...Her hospital became a central hotspot of the pandemic in New York City and her unit was repurposed for COVID-19 patients. The situation was growing more grim by the day, so it became very difficult for me to isolate at home and not try to help somehow. I decided to muster up a bunch of friends from other bands to come together virtually and lay down a hopeful and anthemic punk rock song. Our goal is to raise everyone’s spirits and help raise funds for a charitable organization that’s on the frontlines fighting for our well-being. I picked one of the most timeless punk bands from Queens and their song couldn’t be a better fit.

A new Bad Cop/Bad Cop track

A new Bad Cop/Bad Cop track

Bad Cop/Bad Copy just released a new song from their soon-to-release album, The Ride

“Pursuit of Liberty” is an immigration-themed song penned by bassist Linh Le.

Le explains:

My family fled Saigon in 1975. They were given a chance. So, why isn't the same thing still happening for everyone fleeing their danger? How have we gone from "The Land of the Free" to "Build that Wall?”

The song isn’t (just) about my family. I wrote this song to bring awareness to a completely disgraceful treatment of refugees. My family's part in the song is just my way of showing how personal it is to me. But the message is about ALL REFUGEES.

The Ride releases on June 19 on Fat Wreck Chords.

The Ride track listing:
1.    Originators2.    Certain Kind of Monsters3.    Take My Call4.    Simple Girl5.    Breastless6.    Perpetual Motion Machine7.    Community8.    Pursuit of Liberty9.    The Mirage10.    I Choose11.    Chisme12.    Sing With Me
