Evening Standards - World's End

Scene Point Blank has teamed up with Evening Standards to share “Forever,” a song from the band’s upcoming World’s End, out on June 7 on Let’s Pretend Records.

World’s End is the second album from the Indiana trio, whose members have also played with the likes of Future Virgins, Door-Keys, Fat Shadow, ADD/C, Landlord, and more.

Speaking of the new record, bassist Daun says:

This is a darker, heavier album than our first. It came out of a lot of loss--we experienced a lot of death and intense loss before and during the writing, and really had to hold on to each other pretty tight. Chris and I have been together for like 16 years, and the three of us have been tights buds since we met Cole in Chattanooga about that long ago. I think you can hear the tighter bond on this album -- both musically and emotionally. There's always been an element of hope in our stuff, but I think this one is both darker and more hopeful. I hope people hear this one and are inspired to reach out to each other.

Get a taste for yourself in “Forever,” below, which Daun says “is like a little key to one of the big themes of the album, which is hope amidst death and violence.”

When we were practicing this one, I would be riding my bike and singing the chorus all the time:
“We talk about it like it's old news/ but it's the hardest thing that we've been through/ It's safe to say we put our roots down here/ but come tomorrow we could disappear/ and plant some seeds along the way/ ask me and I'll stay/ forever and a day.”
It's really comforting. Every time we play it I think of the people who have held me up over the years when I needed it, and how I learned to come through for people. I think the three of us (and our community) love each other deeply, and argue like siblings, and walk through darkness, but at the end of the day it's just a matter of being together, making art, and loving each other.

The song balances warm pop melody along with underlying complex emotions such as dealing with pain and loss. Preorders are available from Let’s Pretend.

Upcoming shows:
May 25 @Blockhouse Bloomington, IN: LP release show with Wife Patrol
May 31 @Orbit Room Bloomington, IN: Evening Standards acoustic with Glitter Brains
July 26-28 @Do Ya Hear We Fest Chattanooga, TN
