Death of Youth today and on Feb. 19

On Feb. 16, Death of Youth will release a self-titled album available via Engineer Records (UK), Cat's Claw Records (UK - Cassette Tape Only), Sell The Heart Records (US), Remorse Records (France), Dancing Rabbit Records (Germany), Vina Records (Italy), and Pasidaryk Pat Records (Lithuania).

The post-hardcore band shared the title track today, as the band explains:

The song is somewhat bittersweet in nature as it deals with the nonlinearity that comes from grief and the journey that you have to overcome to get to a place where it’s manageable. It’s not a song about completely healing, but one about accepting where you’re currently at and acknowledging how far along you’ve come from where you were at the start of the process.

The video features a protagonist facing various beings that each represent different stages of grief and overcoming them in different ways. The inspiration came from the Silent Hill video game series which features characters overcoming physical manifestations of their personal demons. It was animated by an animator named Nick Alkin who makes a lot of low polygon videos from a script that was written by the band's vocalist Rob David. Nick took the script, and fleshed out the idea into the finished video, achieving something distinctive yet also familiar.
