Jerry A., known as a founding member of Poison Idea, has a long career outside of the hardcore group as well, working with Crime Scene, Savage Beat, Big Stick, and collaborating with others such as Soft Kill and The Ransom.
With such a wide style of music under to his name, now he is set to release a solo album called From the Fire into the Water, coming out Dec. 16 on American Leather Records.
“I was asked years ago to sing on a Dare To Defy song, a cover of an old punk band YDI. That came out as a single. It came and went. The Hard-Ons from Australia asked if I would write a song with them. They wrote the music - I wrote the lyrics. It was brutally good. People in America never heard it because it was on a European label. Other bands, other releases…," Jerry says of the working with others, which eventually turned him toward the new record, which collects some of these works and more.
Poison Idea is currently on hiatus. A record release show for From the Fire into the Water will be held at Wyrd War in Portland on Dec. 17.
