4 musicians form Big Circle

Posted in Records on July 3, 2026

Big Circle is a new quarter featuring Glenn Mercer (Feelies), Mike Watt (MINUTMEN, fIREHOSE, Iggy & The Stooges), Dave Weckerman (Feelies), and Dan Francia (Speed The Plough) -- st to self-release a 4-song EP on July 17.

“I reached out to Glenn about putting something together and he said he’d be up for anything. I had had the idea of a band where there are no leaders, and everyone brings the same amount of tunes to the table for each release; in this case, one apiece. Then I emailed Mike Watt to see if he’d be part of this and he was into it! The three of us decided we needed one more member, a drummer, to complete the line-up. Glenn suggested Dave and Watt wholeheartedly agreed and Dave was equally enthusiastic about the project. Finally, Watt wanted us to name the band before we started writing. It was Glenn who came up with "Big Circle,’” Francia says of the project.

While this EP is entirely instrumental, the band plans to add vocals for a follow-up full-length.
