SPB premiere: "Some Girls" by The Pretty Flowers

Posted in Videos on September 18, 2019

Hailing from sunny Los Angeles, CA, The Pretty Flowers pull a number of influences together for a melodic, soothing r ‘n’ r sound that leans on the classics. Scene Point Blank is excited to share a new video for the song “Some Girls” off last year’s Why Trains Crash (Dirt Cult Records).

Digging into those influences, the band’s Noah Green explains, “’Some Girls’ was written after listening to one of the Rhino Records Nuggets compilations and the Guided By Voices Isolation Drills album.”

The video, directed by Joshua Giuliano, was shot the same day as a previous video for “Electrical,” off the same album.

Green expands on its inspiration:

Originally we were going to just do the "Electrical" video, and got to talking about how doing another video that could be shot on the cheap at a single location would be feasible to do that weekend, too. The location wound up being my tiny garage. We loved the simplicity of Buzzcocks "What Do I Get? video, which is just the band performing in front of a white background, and we shot for something similar to that for the "Some Girls" video. Our video has the addition of a cameo by our bass player Sam's dog, Bogie.

The band is currently working on a new album with an expected release in early 2020. Since Why Trains Crash, The Pretty Flowers also released a covers album named Golden Beat Sessions.
