Salad Days is here again

Posted in Videos on September 14, 2024

Punk documentary Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington, DC will have a limited theatrical release in celebration of its 10th anniversary, with filmmaker Scott Crawford making a few public appearances in conjunction with the new screenings. The film is an updated take, a director's cut with some new interviews and edits to round it out.

"Anytime you step away from a project, and look at it through a fresh lens of time, you find small ways to improve the storytelling. I felt like I needed to create some additional nuances and observations that were missing," Crawford says in a press release. "The film stands on its own, but I think this version might fill in a few more cracks in the narrative."

Focusing on the years 1980-1990, the film includes footage of bands such as Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Government Issue, Scream, Void, Faith, Rites of Spring, Marginal Man, Fugazi, and more.

Prior to the film, Crawford made the DC-centric Metrozine, which he started at age 12. He also authored a book, Spoke, a companion to Salad Days (Akashic Books), and has directed CREEM: America's Only Rock'n'Roll Magazine (2021) and Something Better Change, about Joe Keithley of D.O.A.
